Default PNG images in Decal features.

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

Firstly, has anyone use PNG files for Decals before? do they retain transparencies? secondly, how did you get them to work? when i try to insert a PNG file all i get is an icon thumbnail and the image title. i had the same problem with .BMP files and the solution was to change the registry value for .BMP to paint.picture

so what's the same fix for PNG files? i've got Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 for editing the files. tried a few values for the registry, (png.file, photoshop.application, photoshop.image) but nothing worked.

    Thanks in Advance

You didn't state what release of Inventor you are using. Inventor 2008 automatically takes care of the registry problem.

The transparency mask is taken care of by RMB the image in the browser.

JD - sorry, using inventor 11... if i was using 2008 which takes care of the registry, then i wouldn't be having the problem ;-)

Mr T - thanks, i'll give it a shot tomorrow.

Usually when someone isn't using the current release they state that up front. I think there is even a sticky note to that effect somewhere on this site.
    Be careful editing the registry.

Think I did that sticky, presumed since using Autocad07 would be less than IV 2008
