Drawing a Steel Deck

lab

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for drawing a metal deck in section. Right now, it's a huge pain because I need to draw a pline and constantly add sections to it and trim it, etc. Ideally, it would be a simple linetype, but I have no idea how to do this or if it's even possible. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

No takers yet? Hmmmmm.

You're looking for a simple linetype of a metal deck in section? It doesn't have to meet a specific profile? Why not make a custom linetype yourself?

What steps did you take to try and create your custom linetype?

Did you try using the commands Make Shape and Make Linetype found under Tools in the Express pull-down menu?

a linetype, i believe, is not the way to go because it is dependant on the ltscale--it drive me crazzy when i get drawings using a batt linetype becasue of the same problem :x ...if you change the ltscale so will your profile change scale to suit...

what you can do is create a flute as a pline then array it for quite a long distance...then use the pedit command to join them all into a single continuous deck...then you can copy this around and trim it to suit...

what i've aslo done in the past was to create a 4'-0" section and turned it inot a block...then i could array that, explode the last one for trimming or xclip the block...

now there could be a lisp routine written to do all this with a user specified length but you'll have to ask the guru's here to help you with that and/or find one already made...

and fortunately for me a routine is already built into ADT/Architecture to do this :P (but i don't think it's lisp) ...

old topic, but dynamic block with stretch and array parameters works well for me. and Xclip, because my metal deck is a 3ft panel with seams.
