I think you'll have to be in the xref dwg file in order for them to be associative.

Change that... no you don't ... however changes that occur outside of editing the xref in-place won't update the associated dims... i.e. if you edit the xref by loading it up as a dwg then go back & reload the xref it won't update the dims.

This may be an obvious question, but are the dimensions set to be associative when created?

Check DIMASSOC is set to 2.

When you do not edit an xref in place, and reload it, type DIMREGEN. This also applies to when you open the drawing. If the xref has changed since you last did DIMREGEN, then do it again.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Cheers

Also, sometimes when you pick a Snap Point, if there are multiple lines that cross then you might be snapping the dimension to the wrong entity, making the associative property for something else. You can cycle through Snap points to ensure you're making the correct connection between the dimension and the entity by using the TAB key.

    michael,

DIMASSOC will just make sure that new dimensions are created associative.

Type DIMREGEN and then the dims that were created associatively will update.

    Cheers
