    Hi,

you are I suspect using MAP 3D even though you don't say it. I think you are trying to load an ESRI shapefile (spatial datafile). The shapefile consists of 3 files, SHP, SHX and DBF. You should contact the sender and ask for the indexfile (SHX) which seems to be missing.

I have the file on the network, but i don't see how that makes a difference. Please explain.

I have a the .shx file, along with all the other files and it still comes up with the error message.

Dunno if this will help, but try creating a folder on your local hard drive "e.g. C:\Jobs\test", and place the drawing and all the files in that folder. Then open the drawing from that folder and continue on and see what happens.

    Hi,

but are the files in the directory that the errormessage indicates? Don't know a whole lot about ESRI files and MAP shouldn't think that the path was hardcoded in the shp-file? May be wrong. If the file isn't on S: and you don't have an S:'drive, you could fool Windows/AutoCAD to think there's one. HEre's how:

    Create a new directory/folder like C:\TEST.
Open the Command prompt (Start - Run - CMD)
    Give this command:
    subst S: C:\TEST
Create the pathstructure under C:\Test so that the result is:
    C:\TEST\2007\SMITHSGROVE\smiths-grove-boundary\

Copy all the files into the new directory and try reading it by selecting it from the new
    S:\2007\SMITHSGROVE\smiths-grove-boundary\ -place.

    Hope that wasn't too unclear...
