There's a little down button in the bottom tray where you can set the Status Bar Menu settings. I usually just dbl-clk inside or outside the viewport to change PS/MS.

I am curently trialing AutoCAD 2008. when entering and exiting model space through paper space, there is usually a model and paper tab at the bottom of the screen along with the DYN and LWT etc. For some reason this is not there, is this a setting or is there a more effective method of panning and setting up the model space when in paper space?![]()

Right Click over the Icon that looks like a Sheet of paper at the bottom of your screen and you can select to show Tab's.
The pictures attached show what lpseifert is talking about.![]()
