Perhaps, as well as the well known copy bug in 2007, there are other bugs, which you are finding. From 2007, do not saveas to 2002, but use Dwg Trueview to convert from 2007 to 2002It is worth a try.

Hi, sorry for vague title, hard to find a decent one.
I use aCAD 2002 for all our work because it's most compatible with everybody, but I also have 07 that I use to convert files and do a few fancy things with.
Lately 02 has been bugging the heck out of me because for no apparent reason, and on any random file, it will crash when trying to use extend or trim. So say some random line needs to be extended to another, they can be directly perpendicular and even in the same layer, color, line weight, everything. So I type EX<space><space> to use auto-extend, and click the line, no matter where my zoom is, and then it crashes with a error similar to the one I attached. This error is in the file I'm currently working on.
So it asked me if I should save the changes it made, I say yes. Then I recover the file, audit it, purge it, even run superpurge on it, and other purge tools I have. I purge the heck out of it to make sure there are no errors. And then I try again on the same line in the same way and it crashes again, same error!
Next I open the file in 07, save it to 07 format, run purge tools and audit from 07. From 07 the extend works fine, I'm just trying to fix it for 02. So after running all these tools and audits, extending and then shrinking the line manually, I save backwards to 02 and then try again in 02, STILL crashes!
What is really weird is that if I save to 07, extend the line so it's good, then save backwards to 02, go in and manually shrink the line back using the handles, and then try to extend it, it crashes again!
I even experimented by dragging the line PAST the point to extend, and then use trim instead, and it crashes there as well.
All I'm trying to do is extend or trim a line, in any random file, any random job, completely unrelated files and projects, and this problem crops up. I can extend and trim most of the time, but then it gets to one of these extremely stubborn places where no matter what I do, it crashes when trying it. Sometimes I'll be extending a line to meet with a circle or arc, those crash the most. But usually it's just a line extending to another line, nothing fancy going on.
Why all these crashes? I don't remember 02 doing this in the past, maybe rarely, but it's happening more and more and now it's at the point where I'm literally hitting ctrl-S to save every time I want to start extending things. I'm getting so fed up that I'm working more and more in 07 just so I can stop sweating about it.
What the heck is wrong with 02? Is there something I can clean out of 02? Like is there a way to verify all the program files? Clear some kind of cache? Update the extend/trim tools? Or is it a problem inside the files themselves? How would I even know since superpurge and all these other things don't even fix it? Has anybody else got such crashes when trying to extend/trim?
In this particular file, even when saving back and forth with 07 and using every cleaning tool there is, trying to extend this line causes the same error numbers, it doesn't change.
I'm lost, and tired of extend/trim crashing all the time. What can I do?
Thanks

Do you have all the Service Packs and Fixes installed?

The updates don't seem to apply in any way. I'll try Trueview next time, but I don't think it's a conversion problem because it can happy on files I create from SCRATCH on '02.

What anti-virus software are you running?
Do you get an error message?
Have you tried reinstalling 2002?
I get some similar crashes in 2000i since installing 2008.

Why not do all of your work in 2007 and set your _OPTIONS>Open and Save>File Save>Save as>AutoCAD 2000/LT2000 Drawing (*.dwg)?
