    Default Annotative scale list

We use CAD 2008 in our office, and we have trouble with xrefs. We have base plans that reference in several other drawings from other offices (engineers, architects, etc.), and the annotation scale list in the bottom right hand corner in model space gets HUGE. It brings in every scale from every referenced drawing. It really becomes a problem when we need to change the scale of the drawing. We either have to do the "editscalelist" command or scroll all the way down to the bottom of the list, which takes a while since it gets so long.

Is there some way to keep CAD from bringing in those scales from the referenced drawings?
