    Question Daylight line

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

I have been using Land desktop 2007 for several months, my coworkers are using Land Desktop 2000i. My coworkers have a neat little tool that draws a line where an embankment would meet a surface. They call it a daylight line. I have looked through the help files and can not find the 2007 equivalent. I have managed without it so far but recently i have been working on a project where this would be extremely helpful. Any tips or procedures would be appreciated.

It depends on what sort of model you've built and how you've built it.

If you have designed a roadway and would like to import your daylight line(s) go to Cross Sections > Road Output > Draw Daylight 3D Polyline.

This should be similar in 2000i.

I'm curious why aren't you asking your coworkers this and why are they using 2000i while you are on '07.

Thanks, I will have to try that on Monday. The reason for the two versions is because my employer is slowly upgrading everyone. And yes I have asked my coworkers about this but we could not get it to work.

Gotcha. What sort of work are you doing? Roadway, site development, other?

And further, why upgrade to LD '07 rather than '08?

I guess I would call it site design, agricultural engineering. Purchasing bought LD 07 last year but IT is just now getting it installed. I got it several months back because they got me a new computer.

I'm assuming agricultural engineering would be dealing with the development of farmland and such? That's pretty cool.

If you use the grading tools there are other ways to get daylight lines in your dwg as well as the one I mentioned previously. Let us know if you need any more help.
