    on the screen on the left change the "Format" to decimal and you will be able to set a precision level. I had to insert a new instance of the block to see the changes. I couldn't get the block itself to update with an ATTSYNC/regen command.

    I must be missing something.. i've already tried that but it doesn't change it. Even tried starting one from scratch. Can't quite figure how you got from my Start point level and inputted the data to make it be divided by 1000. Am i doing this the wrong way?

    I must admit I cheated by cutting & pasting your Start point into my formula block. What are you doing this lunchtime? I may be available about 1:15 if you want to call. I'll pm you my number.

    OK, my machine just crashed so I've had a couple of minutes play.....

    stating a new attdef
    give it a tag & prompt
    in the default Right Click & insert field
    click on Formula
    in the formula box right click and insert field
    object|select your line as before
    OK
    now you should have the grey field box and type in your formula
    press evaluate
    this will allow you to set the precision
    save & exit

    Brilliant finally cracked it and got what i wanted cheers faor all your time and help dbroada Was very tricky to get the final result though and if you do things in the wrong order it does't work.!
