    Default Non Rectangular Viewport

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

Hello All. I don't think there's a solution to my issue but I'm going to ask anyway.

I have a non-rectangular viewport but the drawing (done in model space) does not fit inside the viewport. Don't get me wrong. The viewport does adjust the drawing when I select Scale To Fit. Actually the drawing would fit just fine if the viewport was rectangular.

Is there a solution for this?

    Thanks for the help.

    Try this.

    Go to the layout tab.

Set current layer to viewport layer being used.

    type at command: mview

pick lower left corner and press enter.

pick upper right corner and press enter.

    works for acad 2002 I don't know about 2005lt

I tried MVIEW and it gave me a rectangular viewport so I now have two viewports one on top of the other.

I know that non-rectangular VPs are not suppose to work in 2005 LT but was able to make it work. At least the command is not available in 2005 LT. I wonder if AutoCAD 2005 looks any different.

I'll just stick to rectangular viewports from here on out.

    Thanks for the help.

Why were you trying to use a polygonal vport if what you needed was a rectangular vport? If you are trying to make it a specific shape then try this.

    type mview and press enter
    type: P
    enter
pick several points in the shape you want
    last command: C

    C = close

This will close the polygon vport
