White text over black hatch

I'm trying to create a block of a logo to use in the title box and I need to place white text on a black background. I've filled the background with a solid hatch which I've set as color no. 7, and the text I've placed on top and set it as color 255. It appears correctly on the monitor, but when printed the white lettering does not appear. I'm assuming this is because the printer can't print white over the black background, as opposed to it "cutting out" the text from the background. Is there a way to do this? The fill dosen't recognize the text as a boundary. If I create a jpeg in another program and insert it in the block, does the jpeg file become part of the block or does the block always refer to the file in a certain location (similiar to InDesign)? Thanks.

I'm using AutoCAD 2008!

use DRAWORDER and send the text to front. You shouldn't have any problem with this, I have done it before.

I've set the draw order and it displays correctly, I'm not sure if it is saving that way as when I open it again in the block editor it seems as if the order may have changed. It still does not print correctly.

you need to make sure that the *.ctb file you're using has colour 255 set to 255 and not black/7...

The other possible issue is if yout .CTB file has lines set to merge, the white will merge with the background & poof no text.

Our office keeps lines merge on as standard, we use screening in wall pochettes etc. Screened linework dosen't print correctly without mergeing.

I have to say that autocad REALLLY dosen't handle white text very well. If it is a logo used often I'd be tempted to make the text an outline & fill around the outside.

Try using an RGB Color of 255,255,255 for white.

The block its self needs to have the corrections. So what it says in the block editor is what it will show on the print out.

Have you checked the merge control under graffics in your plotter CTB? you need to have "lines overwrite" checked or you will get solid black no mater what.
