Hi,
I am a architecture/interior design student and still fairly new to AutoCad. I would greatly appreciate any help with this problem =D
I am using AutoCad 2008
Problem:
I have a 3d interior space that I have built, I need to make plan and section/elevation views. I know I can use the Section Plane tool and/or Flatshot tool to achieve the desired result. However, I have added, copied and pasted, imported, and used idrop to place furniture from different makers (such as Knoll or Steelcase) into my current file (totally different question but is the furniture I added referred to as blocks or xrefs or something else). Anyway, when I use either/or Flatshot or Section Plane to create a section view the aforementioned "placed" furniture does not show up. Everything that I personally built shows up but everything that I borrowed does not! Am I missing a setting somewhere? Please HELP...
I have attached the file I am working on, so you can play with it and see when you do Flatshot or do a Section Plane of the the plan view or any elevation that the task chair, the two chairs, the phone, the computer, the stools under the glass shelves, the sliding glass wall w/doors, and the front door (all things I either imported, idrop'ed, or copied and pasted into the file) will not show up.

Everything is built in 3D so why aren't these tools working???
Thanks in advance

The objects you inserted, the ones you didn't create, are they Solids or Surfaces? I believe that FLATSHOT only works on Solids.

AutoCad file was too big I zipped it and put it on my website:

Yep, just as I suspected. Those objects you inserted are polyface meshes. Flatshot won't work on those.

If I want to make 2d section/elevation views what is the best solution when I have a mixture of 3d solids and meshes? Everything I find just says to use flatshot but doesn't talk about it's limitations and how to overcome them or what else to use when flatshot is not going to work.
Thanks,
Angel
