    Default Render Quality

    1. I have been playing around with the 3D rendering but notice the quality is nowhere near as good as the preview picture in the materials rendering.

    2. Also I have on all 3D objects this horrible outline that when I put a matrial to it you can still see the outline of the 3D object. Can this be turned off and how?

    3. Last question is that when I apply a material to an object I always get that material if I try using any other type of layer I always get the same material. How can I sort this out?

    Regards

    Chris

    1. Can you clarify what you mean by "The preview picture in the materials rendering"?

    2. The lines you see will not show up when you render the scene. I think problem #1 one will also be resolved once you render the scene.

    3. If you stuck a material in the first, default, material slot, then that is your Global material and it will be applied to every object you create. But you should be able to just create a new material and then apply it to any object, using the "Apply Material to Objects" button, to change from the default Global.

by preview picture I mean the preview you get in the material settings window. How do you clear any setting on there back to default or can you not revert back to default?

You should be able to remove the material from the Global slot by clicking the "Delete Map Information From Material" button.

To get rid of the outlines try the command " vsedges" (stands for visible edges), you will be asked to key-in a value, make it "0" (zero). This should remove the visible edges.

Thanks for all your help guys but I do have 1 more question for you. Cad09 comes with some good stock materials but whilst messing around and apply some of my own stuff I can no longer find the Cad stock materials. Can you tell me what folder they are in as I have no idea as to where they were.

Open your OPTIONS dialog, navigate to the "Files" tab and then browse down to the "Texture Maps Search Path". This will tell you where your materials are located.
