    Default Exercises in autocad

    Hello friends,

I am Satish from India. I am a student doing my B.Com II year. May be you find my questions silly but ..................here they are.

A few days ago I came to know that some kind of outsourcing is being done for AutoCAD work. Companies in Canada and America send their requirements thourgh internet in India and the work is done here. Thinking I could earn something while studying I bought AutoCAD bible and started learning autocad (mainly because I like to work on computer).

Now I want to know is it possible with myself in no way related to designing and is there someone who wants a small autocad work which I can do in whatever time I have??

Feeling that there is no harm in learning something I started with autocad bible and studied around 15 chapters. But now I feel that I am forgetting the previous chapters.

So I want to know are there any websites or resources where I can find some real world problems and exercises in autocad so that I can have some practice and revision of commands.

Also, can anyone please tell me how the work is actually given? Is it a rough drawing with dimensions which one has to draw in autocad or is it a written text and data which is to be used for drawing.

    Thanks in advance

I am usually given rough sketches to work from, or previous drawings that are scribbled all over. The main line of CAD drawings I do are electrical so I have a symbol library set up and just connect them up with lines (wires) I have a copy of the Britsh Standard Symbol library for my job and it was just a case of putting them into Autocad
Perhaps you could start with finding out a bit more what the line of work is you'd be doing, be it mechanical, scaled drawings or electrical work hey, you could be designing the next space station then start by looking over the internet for where you can get hold of the standard symbol libraries.
For a excersize to keep you going have you seen the symbol libaries that come with the software? Perhaps with them you could draw up a scaled drawing of you house? I believe they have everything plus, the kitchen sink. If this is not enough try developing your own.

    Keep on cadding.

Well for me as I do retail store planning and layouts is that I usually get an empty space plan or an existing and I have to fit in the components to best suite the space that I have. I always start with a standard set of componetns and start with the most critical ones first. The rest then fall into place as needed. I get these looked at by superiors and then adjust as needed. When they are ready i send them to the local Architect to prepare a set of construction drawings. Sometimes we can do these in house if the space/area will allow.
Please do not PM me with CAD questions. Post your question on the forum. Our users are the best out there and you'll get the best possible answer to your question.
