nstocks depends on which layout your using (model/paper) if its going off course re-adjust your layout/scale settings on which you are drawing on.

I've just started to use AutoCAD, at college, but everything has gone wronf for me.I've now got Autocad 2006 on my home computer, and i was going to start all over again.
When i put in the co-ordinate 5000,6000 then press enter, the Line goes off the page and i can't find it.Does the page need setting up or changing in someway.
Theres probablly a few questions on this, but I need to find out fast, as I have a deadline of when to hand it in.
Thanks

Are you in modelspace (as default black) or paperspace (as default white)?
do a zoom extents, you can do this by typing Z {press enter} E {press enter} or by double clicking your mouse wheel.
Im in the modelspace. If i typed in the command 5,6 then enter, it shows up perfectly, but that because i divided it by 1000.So do i need to change the measurments, if so how?

Maybe you should start here and then progress your way through some more tutorials.

I dont' mean to be rude at all, but can you just tell me how to set the page up so that when i enter co-ordinates they will show up on the screen, rather then go way off.
Thanks

Draw a circle, center point 5000,6000 radius 100.
make sure your viewport is not locked
zoom > extents
zoom > center [pick center of circle]
Enter magnification or height [enter scale factor e.g 1"=50' > 1/50xp]
action=view¤t=untitled.jpg[/IMG]That works, but as soon as i put the co-ordinates given in the book, it goes off again. Also the right hand side scroll isnt there, and there seems to be part of the interface cut off.I've attatched a screenshot, it may help to explain what i mean.I never had this problem at college, i don't understand why i have it at home.

What are you trying to do, draw a line from a coordinate to another? what are the coordinates?
Options > Display > Display scroll bars in drawing window
<edit> after reading the command line from your screen shot...
You can't invoke the zoom command transparently if it requires a regen. Draw your line segments [don't worry if they're off screen], then escape, then do a zoom all.

The book says:
select the draw line
command: _line From point: 5300,6300
Specify next point: 19700,6300
Specify next point: 19700,20700
Specify next point: 13300,20700
Specify next point: 13300,13700
Specify next point: 5300,13700
Specify next point: 5300,6300
I have drawn it all before at college, and it worked, but i just can't get it to work right at home.
