Is there a way to write a lisp routine or other method, that would lower the intensity settings i.e. the color settings for each layer
including the xref layers. As an example: from say a color 50 to 52 or a 150 to a 152. We're fire protection
contractors and would like to be able to degrade the color intensity therefore the line darkness of the architectural
plans and be able to draw in our fire sprinkler piping, heads, etc. at the full darkness. Any ideas?

The best way I have found is to adjust the color of your Floor plan etc. to a color that you have set up as a light line type. Such
as color 8. That way when you put something on color 8 you always
know it will plot lighter than the other colors. You could take that a step further and save your layer state in the dwg then change everything but the pipe layer, titleblock etc. to color 8.
That way if you ever need to return to the original
color you simply restore the orginal layer state.
You would set this up through layer manager and adjust the lineweight of the color's you want to plot light.
Hope that Helps
