So you download these images. I got that. But how do you incorporate the images into the MEP tool palette? It's different than the materials tool palette. The one I'm talking about is in the design tab of the Architectural Palette in MEP 2008.

Why does Autodesk make this so hard?

Sorry, I'm really frustrated.

Sorry, I've never worked with MEP so I can't offer any assistance with that. But, does MEP have a Material Editor like plain Autocad? Try typing RMAT or MATERIALS at the command line and see if the Editor opens.

Typing either just opens the materials palette. In MEP there's a Tool Palette that has Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, etc, palettes within the Tool Palette. Using those 3D design tools creates what they call AEC components, as opposed to 3D objects.

Those components don't seem to be affected by anything you do in the Materials Palette. And 3D objects that can be created with plain AC or MEP don't seem to be affected by the Materials Tool found within the Architectural Tool Palette (within the Tools Palette).

I'll keep searching. Thank you for your help.

I have cleaned this thread and removed all spam, dead links and links to deceptive sites. Due to the amount of spam and other bogus links being posted, this thread is now closed. There are plenty of links to free texture sites posted above. If you can't find what you need at any of those sites, try searching Google Images or maybe consider purchasing textures from a commercial site.
