Express Tools

Recommended Posts

I have recently crossgraded from AutoCAD Full to AutoCAD Electrical.

(Though I have not used the Electrical part yet)

Reseller guaranteed that ACAD-electrical includes all the capabilities & utilities of ACAD-Full.

THOUGH:

I Can't find Express Tools.

Does anyone know if this is excluded from ACAD-electrical?

During installation you should have been given the option to load Express Tools. Did you try inserting your installation CD and looking more closely at the options?

Yes, I did.

And I did explore the Installation DVD. Didn't find anything.

(Though maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.)

My fault. It used to be a separate category under Install Products.

You can try this.

To add or remove features-

1. In the Control Panel (Windows), double-click Add or Remove Programs.

2. In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click AutoCAD 2009, and then click Change/Remove. The AutoCAD Installation wizard re-opens in Maintenance Mode.

3. Click Add or Remove Features.

4. On the Add/Remove Features page, select a feature to install or uninstall. The icons to the left of the selections give you an indication of the action that will be taken.

-Indicates a feature that was originally not installed.

-Indicates a currently installed feature or a feature that you want to add.

-Indicates an originally installed feature that is chosen for removal.

Note: If you need to revert to the AutoCAD features that you selected in your original installation, click Cancel. Click Next.

4. On the Update AutoCAD 2009 Installation page, click Next.

5. On the Update Complete page, you are informed when the updates have been performed. Click Finish.

For some reason I couldn't copy over the icons referred to above.

When I installed MEP 2009 It also did not have and option to install the express so I just explored the cd till I found the fonlder called EXPRESS and copyed it to

C:\Program Files\AutoCAD MEP 2009(or what ever cad you are installing)

You might have to menuload it but mine started its self and is working just fine.

The Add/remove installation tool didn't work. thanks to neekcotrack I tried exporing the DVD again.

I did find the cui file a long time ago

(deep in the user\applicationdata..\..\.. folder)

Loading it didn't work because the source files were still missing.

I found the files on my resource DVD and copied them from:

D:\acade\Program Files\Autodesk\Root\Express

to:

C:\Program Files\Acade 2008\Root\Express

I did indeed need to unload and reload the EXPRESS cui.

(C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 2008\R17.1\enu\Support\acetmain.cui)

Thank you all.
