Did you checked if you have "Entire Drawing" checked or "current Selection"? Maybe when its in entire drawing the word you are looking for is on a frozen Layer?
Is it happening with every word or just once in a while?
Did you try regen?

I'm currently using AutoCAD lt 2005 and the find and replace command is not working properly. When using the find command it will find the text, but when you click zoom to it goes to a blank area on the screen where nothing is at?
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

None of the layers are frozen, and this happens with all the text. I regenerated the entire also and it is still doing the same thing.
However I did notice, that after you click zoom to, it is always away from the text about 100' down and 100' to the left. This is with all the text in the drawing I discovered.
if you select a piece of text, where does it's insertion point show up?

If by insertion point you mean the grip, it is lower left justify, right on the corner of the single-line text.
I found a slightly longer way to find the text that works. If I select a general piece of the drawing where I know the text I want is, select it from the find and replace window, I can then click the option select all, and I can see the grips and zoom to it manually.
What's odd, is I've been working in this CAD file for the past year, and I recall the find command and zoom to working perfectly. It just started doing what its doing now a little while back.
