alijahed
Hi All, Is there any Auto save option in Autocad? It should be there and how can I adjust it for a certain time? Cheers Ali

succu8us
of course its there! just go to 'Tools' then 'Options' look for 'open and save' tab and you will see in the left side (middle part). automatic save is already checked iif it is in the default settings. if not, go and click the box and then you are ready to set the time between saves. lpseifert
Be aware that the Autosave is not a substitute to saving often; the autosave file (.sv$) is deleted after acad exits normally. It's intended purpose is for a recovery after a crash.
mugshot
... one more, .sv$ file exension are so hard to find, keeping sometimes your pc to crash.
ReMark
I recommend creating a .bak file although there are some here who do not. Each to his own. In any event, should you wish to then go to Tools > Options and click on the Open/Save tab. Look under File Safety Precautions and put a checkmark in the box in front of the words Create backup copy with each save. Now, because you do not want to accummulate a lot of .bak files make sure, on a weekly basis, you do a search of your drawing files main folder for all .bak files then send them off to the Recycle Bin. Empty the Recycle Bin weekly too. Good housekeeping practices pay off in the long run.
mugshot
... but remark. what if you forgot to save your last drawing and the computer crashes... isn't it that the .bak file will be the same as the file before it the pc crash? and on .sv$ is morely updated that .bak ext files? dbroada
the .bak file is there when you make a mistake, the .sv$ file is there when the computer makes one. If the program exits cleanly there won't be a .sv$ file. If you open a drawing to make some "what if" changes and accidentally save on exit you will have a .bak to go back to. They both serve different purposes.
