how to seperate sections from 2d geometry

I have a circle , that I divided into equal sections. The divide function doesn't separate sections however. Is there a quick way to separate a section from the circle or any 2d geometrical figure. Break only breaks it and removes the section in question. What I want, is to break it from the entity and have it separated, as this often is needed. There are of course ways to arrive at it via copying and elaborate trim set up, but i can't seem to find a quick and handy way of doing it.

You are right about the Divide; it only puts marks on the circle.

There is a way with the Break command but it can't be applied to circles. Start the Break command, select the object to be breaken, when AutoCAD asks for the second point enter F (meaning "first point") and click a point. AutoCAD prompts you for the second point. Enter the same point as the first one. You may just enter @ meaning "The same point as the last entered".

This will create an interruption on a curve. Unfortunately, as I mentioned, it can't be used on whole circles.

Last week I posted a link to a Lisp routine that will break a circle without deleting anything. I found it at the CAD Tips section of CADalyst Magazine. Do a search of this site and you should be able to pull it up. To make it easy search on the magazine's name. That should cut down on the number of "hits".
