Meat1000
Hi, I'll start off by saying I really have a very, very basic understanding of AutoCAD and can only do the simplest of tasks in it. The problem is, at my company, we do not have any experienced CAD users, so we are stuck trying to figure out stuff on our own. We use AutoCAD Lite 2006 and have many existing drawing of sites we've been on (we are environmental consultants). We recently had to submit a map of a site to the state. I received an email stating that the map did not meet the GIS requirements. When I asked why, I was told that I needed New Jersey State Plane Coordinates "inserted" into the map at 2 known points, such as 2 corners of the building, so that it slips right in to there GIS. Ok, now for the question, how do I insert coordinates into the CAD map so that it goes into a GIS program? Thanks in Advance
ReMark
Are you able to determine what the coordinates of the two building corners would be? Are you familiar with the NJ state plane coordinate system?
ReMark
Maybe this might be useful: http://www.esri.com/news/releases/07_4qtr/autocad.html See ArcGIS for AutoCAD.
BIGAL
This may help if you dimension the tyes from the corner of the building to the property corner boundaries. use two distances per cnr create a triangle answer. If you then ask whoever for the co-ordinates of the same cnrs you can then tye your building to these points you can then move or insert your drawing to these new points. use circle to create the intersecting point. see attached co-ord.pdf
