    Default Dimension Architectural Units

Does anybody know how to make the automatic dimension, i.e.
    DIM
    HOR or VER

automatically show dimentions in inches from 0" to (lets say) 35" with inches only ( #" form )
and proceed to show dimensions from 3'-0" and longer in the #'-#" form ?

also, if anybody knows how to change "HOR" to just "H"
and "VER" to just "V" that would be a time saver too !

Thank you to anyone who can help me,
    Andrew

I'm pretty sure this isn't possible. I guess you can always update the DIM text manually but this is not recommended.

I remember that I used to work this way. I don't know if it was the version I was using (R13 or 14) or if it was a custom thing they had set up at that company.

I have searched around a little, trying to find the variable or setting for this...but I've had no luck. I was hoping someone here would answer your question.

How about setting up 2 different dim styles? one for just inches, and another for feet & inches. Then, create a 'toggle' icon for switching back and forth between the two.

    That's not a bad idea.

I usually edit the properties of one of my dimensions in the range that I want to appear in inches (from Arch to fractional)...and then use the match properties brush to convert any of the other dimensions.
