ReMark
The question about exporting STEP files from AutoCAD (that I answered incorrectly ) got me wondering about the opposite. Could STEP files be imported into AutoCAD? Apparently the answer is yes. First. STEP = Standard for The Exchange of Product model data. SYCODE, of Panaji, India introduced a product called STEP Import for AutoCAD that is a plugin for versions 2000 thru 2008. The plugin allows for the exchange of 3D data between different CAD programs. A 10-day trial version (27.3MB) is available for download here: http://www.sycode.com/products/step_import_ac/index.htm STEP Import sells for $195 (U.S.). According to SYCODE: "STEP Import for AutoCAD reads the 3D geometry from STEP files and creates 3D curve objects corresponding to each edge in the solid model."
