3d face on a bizarre shape

Hi All,

I currently use autocad lt 2008 with toolbox lt add on which enables 3d functions.

At the moment i'm trying to create a timber hexagonal deck which has deck boards on the top. For ease of understanding (for my workshop team) i'm using HIDE function to show the boys visually what i mean, they don't want to bother with viewing every line ever created.

I have used the 3d face command on all the regular shaped deckboards.

However i cannot get a face onto the 'cut-out' deck boards.

About a week ago i had the same issue and i was advised to make a copy of the objects with thickness and create a region. This was perfect and worked brilliantly, when i came to use this method again....

as you can see it worked for one of the boards only and for some reason it won't create a region for the other two.

do you think anyone could help me out?

thankyou in advance

:)

I think that would be a toolbox issue, 'cause of LTs lack off 3D stuff. That is quite an under taking using LT alone. Lot of snapping to end points. -David

i'm sure it is a toolbox issue, what i can't quite understand is why the region command has worked up until now but suddenly for these two objects it is not creating a region.

lots of snapping to end points yes.......but hey you gotta do what you gotta do. If i had full autocad then it would be a whole lot easier. I can with a bit of time and effort normally create what i need to using the long way aound (or completely unconventional way)!

:D
