Ok so I am sorry if this has been asked before but I read for a little and could not find it among all the posts.

    My Woe:

I am using AutoCAD 2005 with no add ons

I am attempting to Model several Irregular (no real pattern) 3D polylines, they are spaced 10 Meters apart vertically (slightly to the left or right etc), they are an ore body that should be about 25,000 Tonnes. I have put a 3D Mesh on these objects, but my problem comes in where I need to figure out the Volume of the newly created model, and the TOOLS>INQUIRY>REGION/MASS PROPERTIES tool comes back saying that the Object is not a solid. Is there anyway to make this 3D mesh object a solid without making 1000's of little boxes inside and taking the volume of each one.

Knowing my luck this is not possible without add ons.....I hae done it in the past but that was with certain add ons, using tie lines and Volumetrics.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Peter

I am using AutoCAD2000 with SurvCADD 2000 add on to do similar tasks

but if your mass is flat sided you should be able to create an oversized solid box and slice the sides using your 3D polylines as axis' to get your volume..

You can convert some meshes to solids using "m2s.lsp" (google search).
