Importing jpeg Image into auto cad to trace

You can type "imageattach" and select your jpg and open.

Then you can place anywhere in acad model space.Then you can trace

as you like!:):)

Here's an even better option if it's a Line drawing and you can get your hands on/ convert it to a PDF. I note you have AutoCAD 2009 - if you have taken out the subscription as well, you can pick up Bonus Pack 2. This gives you the ability to add the PDF as a background (like an XREF) and be able snap to points on the PDF. Now that's handy!!!

 

Even gives you controls over the PDF output eliminating the need for a third party PDF writer. This even allows you to plot with Layers (just like Adobe)...

I do lots of stuff like this.

 

I like to set up a new layer and copy / paste to that layer. I use another layer for drawing with a line color that contrasts well.

 

The ability to shut off the image layer makes it easy to see your progress.
