Why don't you just start a new drawing?

What you are doing is not a good habit. You should always start fresh with a new file. That way you don't get all the leftover junk from the previous drawing.

I have renamed your thread to something more descriptive and moved it to the Beginners Section.

Please take a minute and read our posting guidelines: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23105

Also, since I renamed your thread, you can now check the 'Similar Threads' at the bottom of this page. One of them specifically addresses the problem you have described.

Try "aecexporttoautocad" removes proxy data makes files a lot smaller but be aware you may need the proxy data. Also try "wblock" this can give big reduction in file size.

So you've done everything listed below?

Deleted everything from model space and paper space layouts

Hit Ctrl+A to Select any unseen entities and then hit Delete

Purge

-Purge Regapps

Audit

Delete Layer Filters

Detach Xrefs

Detach Images

And still the file size remains large?

I say toss it and start with a fresh new file.

As I mentioned before, this is always the best approach.

How about WBLOCK and select the drawing...?:)

Or, Erase > All > and Remove (select the drawing content you want).

Theres sometimes blocks with just points, or no graphics which can be deleted and purged. Worth a try?

Youl could try a -purge, then R and also -scalelistedit to reset all your viewport scales. That will speed up and reduce the drawing file.

A thing that I just found because I couldn't understand how my file (with 7 Lines in it) could be 2500 kB while a file from the same project with the same purge/audit routines applied to it, but with little over 800 elements (lines, arcs, circles, texts) was around 400 kB.

I found that when I changed from fileformat 2000 to 2004, the file shrunk from 2500 kB down to 294 kB ... why? no clue.
