Mike.Richards
i just recently started making blocks and im noticing that if i dont start drawing at 0,0 then i end up with a grip that is really far away from my object. so consequently when i insert this block it doesnt insert right at my cross hairs. is there a way to get rid of this grip completely and just use a move perameter or do i need to start all blocks at 0,0. please help. thanks. rkent
It is easiest to make blocks at 0,0. If you are using small drawings to insert (consider them blocks) then either open the drawing and move the entities to 0,0 or explore insbase command. dbroada
when creating a block using BMAKE make sure you set the origin - there is a box that allows you to do this.

Mike.Richards
nevermind i figured it out. here is what i figured out incase anybody else has this problem. when you select the "make Block" tool a window comes up where you have the opportunity to name the block. just underneath the name box is a tool that allows you to select the base point for the block. use this tool and you wont have any problems like i did. btw im using 2007 so... i have no idea how to do this on earlier versions if it's any different
dbroada
BMAKE is the make block tool. I do everything from the keyboard. Before googling, try using the AutoCAD help. If you need to reposition your existing blocks it can be done but your block will stay inserted on the existing insertion point and all your graphical details will move away. You have no idea how many problems are due to people not changing the insetion point when defining a block.
