DeathByDesign
in 2008 autocad in the insert tab there are 2 types of reference options **external reference and dwg reference** now my question is what is the difference? As far as I can see they do the same thing for both commands, which wouldn't make any sense. There has to be a difference or why would they put 2 different commands in the same place that do the same thing. haha god make any sense Any ideas? Thanks
Lee Mac
I've never used '08 before, but my initial guess would be that external reference means xref and dwg reference means block.
ReMark
Lee Mac is right. As quoted from AutoCAD for Dummies (no offense meant): "In AutoCAD, an xref, or external reference, is a reference to another, external file — one outside the current drawing — that you can make act as though it's part of your drawing."
