td88
I've created a new drawing and inserted an xref'd base site plan. I've drawn on the xref and copied both the xref and new drawing to a new location in the same drawing. Does this copying and relocation cause any problems with the xref or, may I copy an xref as many times as I wish and still expect the updating of the base drawing to take place as expected? td88
Cad64
Yes, you can have multiple insertions of xrefs within your drawing. Title blocks are a perfect example of this. The problem you may encounter is when you try to Detach the xref, you will get a message stating that the xref cannot be detached due to multiple references within the drawing, or something like that. You will need to delete all references before Detaching. Other than that, I've never had any real problems with multiple insertions.

Cad64, I follow all except, "delete all references before Detaching". What does that mean? What are references? td88
Cad64
What are references? References = External References = Xrefs
td88
Is that simply saying, erase all xrefs or more than that?
Cad64
Yes, erase them.
