How to read 3DSolid in DXF files

Hi

When i do for example a cilinder and save like DXF, appears:

 

3DSOLID

 

And a code that i want to decode, Can somebody help me?

I recall some attempts at decoding the dxf reference of 3dSolids. Here is a thread hinting at that process from the VBA side of things. http://www.theswamp.org/index.php?topic=16754.0

 

Another option is to analyze the solids via the SAT file acquired via an acisout command. Here are a couple of links that discuss the capabilities of that option.

Hi there,

I have a sample dxf file that includes a Box, a Cylinder, a Pyramid, a Sphere, a Torus, a Cone, and a Widget. I have loaded that ASCII file in MATLAB and looked at the ENTITY part of the dxf reference about 3dSolids to learn how to extract some details of objects. I couldn't find any group codes indicating the coordination of those objects. Could you please tell me in which part of the loaded dxf file I should find those details?

Hi,

I have forgotten to say that the objects are of type 3dSolid.

1) Does anybody know how to use group code value 350 that is a Soft-Owner ID/handle to history objects?

2) Does this handle refers to the point where additional data about entity 3dSoid objects are stored?

Please point me to the right froum where I can ask my questions if they are irrelative to the froum contents. Thanks.
