joes Posted May 21, 2009 Share Posted May 21, 2009 Hi I am currently researching ways to fix one of our products together, to make it more able to deal with high pressure. I am currently trying to test one idea by running it through a simulation study on solidworks simulation. Everytime i try to create a mesh it fails and gives me this message.'Surface mesh successful.Volume mesh failed.Reducing element size can help'. I have tried to apply mesh controls but had no joy. My solidworks knowledge is basic at the moment, but does any1 know how I can get round this. I have attached a document to show how my product is fitting together. joes Posted June 1, 2009 Author Share Posted June 1, 2009 Hi Thanks for the response sorry for my late reply have been off work the last week. I have now rounded off the corners to my model and it now meshes correctly. However when trying this at the weekend it was taking in excess of 8 hours to run the study. I thought at first this might be the procerssor speed in my laptop, but it seems to be doing the same today at work. I have added two contact sets to the model and the load is been applied directly on the front of the dome. Struggling to work out why it is taking this amount of time, any help would be appreciated. shift1313 Posted June 1, 2009 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Well in the upgraded version of SimXpress you should be able to concentrate the mesh at certain areas( I believe its sketch driven). try turning the mesh way down and see how fast it runs.
