I would use the "snap from" option of the object snaps.

I'm not 100% sure with LT, but what happens if you type "mtext", then "from" ?
Sorry if I led you down the wrong way if LT doesnt have this capability![]()

yes that works thanks, a little long winded but it does work, "mtext" then "from" click basepoint then input offset
