AEKDB5 Posted June 17, 2009 Share Posted June 17, 2009 My boss just told me that he is wanting me to take the reins and be the CAD Manager for the company. This place is all screwed up with how they do things and I was wondering of any good books, online info that could help me do that side of my job. He had made mention that he wants me to keep things going long the lines of all the management for the dept., from actual drawings to the computer mainframe items as they deal with our CAD system...any help would be great. It's a great learning opportunity, but it may prove stressful if they aren't willing to use current technology. Then again you always have us to rant um talk to. Just so you aren't set up for failure sit down with your boss as many times as it takes to get a good idea about what his expectations for this are really. One persons idea of a CAD Manager is someone that helps out the other users; while others expect no loss of productivity from you while you work CAD issues for others; still others see it as an actual Management position with supervisory responsibility; not to mention IT support, and customization, manuals, etcetera.
