Need Advice

Good Morning!

Here is the part of an assembly drawing. Please check it and advice me on how to improve.

Any thing wrong with views ?
Is any missing details/information ?

There are quite a few things wrong, for example:
- You show break lines on the pipe strut on one view and not the other.
- You have abbreviated thick to THK.
- millimetre shown as MM, should be mm (lower case)
- unusual to dimension the internal diameter just call the pipe 76.3 OD 6.3 chs.
- Your top strut connection to bracket calls up 14 diameter holes for M16 bolts.
_ You have leaders passing through dimension text

Is this for fabrication or school. ??

First of all : Thank you very much for your nice and useful comments with a question.

Actually that was the part of shop drawing which I got from our fabrication section for incorporate composite components. I am not much familiar with steel fabrication drawings...lol.

I would stretch the dimension < 120 > that's buried in the wall to the right. It will show up better when printed.
You also have dimension extension lines passing through text which is a no-no as well.
The large pipe, with the I.D. indicated within...well that should be called out using a diameter much like PS-Port suggested.

Lateral support Plan, I'm having trouble orientating myself, is the big pipe a column or a horizontal strut...(which one is the plan view)

and as far as design, that connection at the wall is pinned not moment, so there is not much lateral support going on...(actually none).

these comments are intended as constructive......these aren't seriously fabrication drawings are they ?

I think the top view is the "plan". But you're right, the views should be called out. Looks like another strut might be called for too.

Pretty hard looking at a small portion of the design isn't it..

Maybe they are using multiple supports? It would be nice to know what is the length of pipe they are supporting. Vertical supports seem to be more problematic.

I might have included an enlarged detail of that wall connection for clarity too.

If this is for fabrication then abrevations are not reccomended. Attention to detail is crutial, so perhaps give an elevation or an isometric view. Remember, that on these type of drawings you cannot give too much information!

Improve clarity by watching you leader arrows, espically on your dimensions. Align your text so it legible and easy to follow (In this case there is not alot of text, but imagine if you had 300 strings of text and it was all jotted about the place, it would become very hard to read easily).

Just bare in mind, whoever might be trying to read from this might be a complete idiot, so just make it idiot proof

-Indicated top view is plan
-Presently this is not a fabrication drawing...

I want to make it good as much I can..
If anyone could make a better drawing for my reference, that would be very useful.

More qstn :
In the top view shows (116) is it correct practice ?
Indiacted weld symbol is enough ?
