ianh05
Hi - I'm running Autocad 2004, when I type using Mtext ,the Hot grips don't wrap the text when I change the width ie. when I resize the width the text doesn't wrap to the new size - any ideas? Tiger
Are you marking the text before you change the width? Try highlighting the text first, then dod the change.
ianh05
Once the text is drafted, I'm doing a left hand click on the text, Hot grips appear but the text doesn't wrap to the new size
Tiger
i'm afraid you're gonne have to explain what you mean by Hot Grips? You mean the blue squares at each corner? Are you still in the MText editor when you let-click on the text?
ianh05
yes, I mean the blue squares - I'm not in Text editor when I'm trying to resize the box - although if i resize the box when i'm in the editor the text does wrap but remains as one text line when I exit! Tiger
ok, let's see if I get what you mean here. If you have just one word in the MText and then use the blue grips to change the MText box, nothing really will happen. You don't really need to worry about the blue grips, they don't really do all that much. If you want to change anything with the text, you need to be inside the MText editor (or do it via the Properties box) and have the text highlighted (for most things). When you say the width - do you mean the size of the text? the width between the letters? the width of the individual letters? It's really hard to try and help when I don't understand what you're trying to do, hence all the follow-up questions. The more information we get, the better answer you get. ianh05
OK - what I'm trying to do is force the text to stay within the width I set with the editor - the text isn't doing that, it appears in one line - very odd. I'm not trying to change the size of text, width between the letters - does that make more sense?? When you type Mtext you can specify the width of the "box" you want to type within
Tiger
ok so now I think I got it Unfortunatly, the only time I've seen this behaviour is when it's just one word, the MText command never wraps one word as far as I have seen. Other than that, it tries to keep the text within the blue grips... so i would say that you need to break the text on your own.
