Hi I am having problems with making an exploded drawing of an assemble that I have made. I have no clue. I am using autoCAD 2009 and need some help. Please. Thanks Rob

If you are a student you can download Inventor for free from http://engineersrule.org and this becomes a trivial problem using an ipn (presentation).

In AutoCAD you will have to Move (F1) to tweek the parts apart to desired view orientation and then use Flatshot or solprof solview (F1). If you want trails you will have to manually add those as well (can be done automatically in Inventor).

Then you might want to add number balloons and a parts list. (All of this is done automatically in Inventor).

If you can't figure it out attach your assembly here.

Inventor is a much better way to do this, but since you asked about how to do it in AutoCAD....

The best way I have found to do this in AutoCAD is to have each part on their own layer(s). Then you create a viewport for each part, freezing all layers except the one for that part. Now it is easy enough to arrange the viewports anyway you like and you don't have to move the parts.
