AutoCAD Warning

Are trying to load a workspace? Or migrate settings from a different AutoCAD?

Sure sounds like a migrate settings transfer.

This might generate another query, "Is is possible to carry a profile around on a thumb drive?"

Would make life easier while moving from PC to PC, PC to laptop, laptop to PC.

I agree, but how would you fix that? Thats why I suggest a repair.

I too agree with a repair.

Any input on the thumb drive carrying profiles?

Sounds easy enough but, never tried it.

Sure would make movin' about much simpler.

When you save a workspce, does it save an actual file or does AutoCAD save it in computers registry.

However, if this is possible, I wanna learn cause I am tired of setting up my computer everyday at school. I have a workspace at school, But I prefer to have the one at school. For some reason I am unable to get the 2 profiles the same :/

Go to options > Profile > export (save as and change the file extension)

Help file:

Profile information is typically set on the Files tab of the Options dialog box, stored in the system registry, and can be exported to a text file (an ARG file).

Pretty cool when you have it on a flash drive. Like taking your desktop with you.

Also save it in My documnets and it will become part of the computer back up every week.

You can also save your block lib to the flash drive and have all your blocks with you also. Just remember to referance the flash drive blocks for your profile.

I don't need to do that... both computers I use have the same blocks loaded.

Thats the Power of Autodesk Symbols 2000, as Billy Mays would say!
