zera
I'm looking for a reliable tracing program that will take digital stills and trace them into photos used for installation instructions. I've previously used photoshop and corel to try and achieve the desired effect, but was unsuccessful. Both softwares have edge enhancement filters, but incorporate too much detail. The detail can be removed using photoshop the paint to remove excess detail but it is kind of time consuming. Please view the pics in full size, they look terrible scaled down http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk85/37604/?action=view¤t=004.jpg I traced this pic quickly in CAD http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk85/37604/?action=view¤t=032.jpg I traced this pic quickly in CAD http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk85/37604/?action=view¤t=photo.jpg Photoshopped this pic, but contains too much detail http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk85/37604/?action=view¤t=photo4.jpg Photoshopped this pic also, but contains too much detail
deres
I don't think that this program exists...the drawings for installation instructions that you mention are either drawn by hand or with 3d programs.
zera
It was kind of a shot in the dark any way. I had hoped that there would be a software designed specifically for that effect, that would speed up the process. I guess I'll just stick with the sketch command. deres
Zera, If you are just a little qualified with traditional hand drawing you can very easily place a trace paper over the photo and follow the basic lines with a rapidograph. Then you can scan the image and add text etc. The result will amaze you. I'm sure that you'll spent much more time experimenting adjusting brightness, contrast bla bla bla than hand-draw it. I promisse it will be fun!
NaeKid
I have played a little with a program called CuttingShop. It will allow you to import a graphic for conversion to .dxf file for cutting on a CNC table. The CNC table could be anything from a vinyl-cutter to water-jet / laser. I don't know if it will do what you are hoping to be able to do .. but .. contact them to see.
