Attribute Question??

Herewegoagain

Recommended Posts

Hi, can anybody help please??

At work we are having a new piece of software which requires more information from our current room use attribute!

The software we currently use reads only:

  • room name
  • room use
  • room perimeter
  • floor area

the new software requires the addition of: Floor Number

Is it possible to explode the attribute, add a further Tag & Prompt then apply this to every other room in the drawing??

Hope this makes sense, any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks Andy

I'n not sure if 2004 has ATTSYNC but I think it has BATTMAN.

Firstly open your original block. If you don't have it on its own just WBLOCK it from a drawing. You can now add an attribute with the ATTDEF command.

To get it back into your existing drawing you either use the INSERT dialogue box browsing to the updated definition and accept the "redefine?" question or you can use the command line -INSERT command with OldBlockName= and accept the redefine.

Now comes the tricky bit. All exisiting blocks will look the same and any new block will have the extra attribute. If you have neither ATTSYNC or BATTMAN you will not easily be able to update existing blocks (it can be done) but with those commands you can synchronise existing blocks to include the extr attribute.
