Rotate a view within a viewport in paperspace without changing the view in model spac

From the AutoCAD 2009 Help file.

 

"You can rotate an entire view within a layout viewport by changing the UCS and using the PLAN command."

 

Is this what you are referring to?

I would tend to use MVSETUP to this, using the UCS option with the plan rotation is also an effective way but if its simply for a one off view you can avoid the need for creating a new UCS using MV.

Just an extra 10 seconds worth when you set your ucs also do a S (save) give it a name then you change any view at will Ucs R name Plan.

 

Jump back to world Ucs R World optional "plan"

 

Changing your model view makes drawing text easier we then jump back to world when doing true survey co-ords but dont necessarily do a "plan" hope that makes sense.

 

Also not limited to one ucs eg Road1 Road2 etc curvey road had 15 ucs's so would align best on sheets.
