ERROR: Your application was not able to obtain a license

Hello: Our company has network licsensing set up off the server for several of our users. This morning, I had tried to get in and got the following message:

Your application was not able to obtain a license because the FLEXnet licence server manager could not determine where to find the licsening data it needs. Please choose from the following:

Specify the license Server System

Specify the Licens File

if i cancel, i then get this error:

A valide license could not be obtained by your network manager.

1200-5.-96

After getting this message, I verified that all the users were not on their machines.

I also verified that I could get to the server.

Has anyone had this experience before?

Thanks

Proctor

Looks like you have some issues with your license file, try obtaining a new one to make sure that the feature is correct, make sure that the service is started:

-5 No such feature exists

-96 License server machine is down or not responding.

See the system administrator about starting the server,

or make sure that you're referring to the right host

(see LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable).

s_wypych: thanks for your reply. when i look at help for autocad 09 I don't see LM_LICENSE_FILE.

I'll have the admin check the server.

thanks again for your help,

Proctor

I'm unable to post a link since I'm a new member but if you do a google search on "creating the LM_LICENSE_FILE variable on Windows" you will find the steps to do what you need. You would need to do this on each computer that is using the network license. This is also what you would do if you were to move the license server to another host to point all of the computers to the new host.

Hope this helps.
