    Question Will an AutoCAD 2004 upgrade CD upgrade Release 14?

    Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Does anyone know if a 2004 upgrade CD will upgrade Release 14?

    Most upgrades are looking for the main executeable file. In AutoCAD's case this is acad.exe so I think it should work but I'm not 100% sure. Give it a try. What do you have to lose? What OS are you running?

    I've never heard of or seen an "upgrade" CD. AutoCAD media discs are all the same. Whether or not you pay for a new license or an upgrade is based on your status with Autodesk.

    IOW - the installer doesn't know or care if you have an older version installed.

    RKM: I thought that at one time the installer did look for an executable file. Maybe I'm thinking of a Microsoft product. Oh well.

    Now I remember. It was AutoCAD LT 1997 for Windows 3.1. Pretty sure anyway. Again, it really doesn't matter.
