dooleygav
I currently have SW 2001, and was trying to do something in an assembly which I don't know if it can be done... See te file attached, I want to make the two metal sides close up when the purple section moves upward.... If I put a collision detection on it just stops and doesn't move up anymore. The current mates on the assembly are on the inside edges of the orange and silver parts. Can this be fixed with a newer verion of SW? Thanks
shift1313
How does this perform in reality? are the metal pieces hinged or do they just deform to get the motion?

shift1313
well if thats the case, yes SW can do it. But I dont know about SW01 because ive never used it. There is a post in this forum I made about Contact Solver. That should answer your question hopefully. In the newer versions its done with Move Components - physical dynamics. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41006
