bonehead411 Posted November 16, 2009 Share Posted November 16, 2009 We're looking to move into the modern world at some time in the near future, and have been investigating the usual 3D software choices, and so far AutoCAD Plant 3D seems to be an ideal solution, considering the field we're in. Has anyone on the forums had any experience with it? And would you recommend its use? I'm sure, like any other package, it has its pros & cons, I just wondered if anyone can give me the inside scoop. There are a few other options out there: Pipework & Structural Steel http://www.3DCADMax.com 3D AutoCAD Pipework – http://www.HerculeDesign.com Or if you'd prefer 2D: 2D AutoCAD Pipework - http://www.3dcadmax.com/2DPipeFittingsAutoCAD.htm Autodesk also offer AutoCAD MEP - http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=3290681 AutoCAD MEP is the front runner in high end piping programs. Inventor Professional has a pipe program that is impressive but has a very steep learning curve if you are from an AutoCAD background. Probably won't get to road test it till after xmas though, waaay to busy at the moment. I'll take a look at the other alternatives you listed. Already checked out MEP & Inventor.
