drawing section lines.

Recommended Posts

I'm doing a sectional view of a part for my first year CAD class. I've drawn the top and section view, but I'm having trouble drawing the SECTION LINE for the top view.

-section line that includes the arrow heads.

I temporarily replaced it with a hidden line for the time being.

Thanks in advance

You could use a continuous polyline and a self-made arrowhead.

If I use a self made arrowhead will that really matter in terms of standards? or no?

Thanks

Just as long as it represents the same visual resemblance as any other section line symbol. Here's an example I found on Google.... That looks about right. I wouldn't worry about creating the PHANTOM linetype tho, just make it CONTINUOUS:

Doesn't AutoCAD 2010 have something similar to the first one (on the left) Styk depicts above?

Yup - open the palette CRTL+3 under the annotation tab loads of section call outs.

thanks for the feedback! I used the multi-leader cmd, to get the arrow for my section line.

But I'll play around with the palette, for future use. thanks again!

I make my own from poly lines using width start and end thickness. It's fast and easy.
