x reference general question

I am trying to get a better understanding of x ref. My understanding is as follows (I do undesrstand what is does). So lets say I have two drawings A and B, lets say I want drawing B to mimic drawing A via x ref. I understand that if I make a change on A it will reflet in B as long as I import that drawing and the changes that I made. But I guess what my question is if I make a change on B and I want it to reflect on A is all I have to do is x ref drawing B onto A? If I am not clear let me know. I feel I have a good understaniding of what x ref does, but have had no real reason to use it yet

Well, there's an easy answer and there's a more in depth answer to your question, since there are multiple ways to do what you're wanting. It's all relative to what you're trying to accomplish for your final result.

Are these drawings architectural floorplans? Or are they some other type of drafting file? Can you give me a more clear answer about what types of drawing you are creating/editing and what do you want your final result to do?

They are architectural drawings. It is for my own personal use so it is not anything imperative. I guess what I am looking to accomplish is have my floor plans reflect on my elevation plans. Is that even possible or would it not work?

As far as i know, you would have to be using Project Manager/Browser.

If anyone knows how a 2d drawing on plan view would update 2d elevation's, holy crap, would save 4 spot revisions.

Ah, good. There are multiple ways to do this but the best way would be to reference A into B, as well as B into A. However, when you insert the XREFs, make sure to choose Overlay option instead of Attachment. That way when you're working in A and make a change, it'll reflect in B, and vice versa.
