    Default Creating a 2D contours

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

Hi, I am trying to figure out how to create accurate 2D contours on AutoCad 2006. The drawings I need to create these contours on are very simple and only have roughly 6-20 data points.

I haven't the slightest clue how to do this. If anyone could help me out or point me to a tutorial that might help it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

it would be a lot of challenge if using acad2006 itself, but if anyone has some better insight, pls correct me if im wrong.
Usually when dealing with terrain, civil3d(and autodesk based software) is used to extrapolate a region of terrain with certain known points. im not sure of other programs outside of autodesk w/c can do it
....always perform Beyond what is expected.

Connect all the points with lines to create a net of triangles. Interpolate between points along these lines to determine where the even ground elevation (contour) occurs. Now connect these points with polylines to create contours.

If you have more than 6 points this would be quite tedious.

I suppose you could do it setting up your units to engineering and surveyors units.. if you're just doing a few points and you can identify each point with its location and elevation and then connect to create the contour lines.

I'm sorry, I do have Carlson 2009 to go with CAD 2006.
