muck
Does AutoCAD 10 have a feature that will save or plot a pdf when a file is saved or plotted? If so, how do you use it? Thank you,
JD Mather
when a file is saved or plotted? Not sure I understand the question. I don't think you would want a pdf created everytime you save a file (for me that would be about every 5 minutes). Are you simply asking how to create a pdf file? Or are you asking how to simultaneously create a plot and pdf file? Auto Save or Make a pdf with AutoCAD 10? Are you using v10 or v2010? v2010 has a built in driver. Tankman
Haven't used AutoCad '10 however, there are a number of free *.pdf printers available. CutePDF and Primo to name two. *.pdf writers install as a printer. Select your *.pdf writer and print away. You will have two files, one will be your drawing1.dwg the second would be drawing1.pdf. A simple procedure. http://www.primopdf.com/index.aspx http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/Writer.asp
spikes2020
If you want to do auto save their are macro's you can write where one button will save and plot to a pdf, if you want. I wouldn't know too much about them but i am 100% sure it can be done as some guy wrote a button to do just that for me. I would look for macros or scripts, and i believe they are all done with command line scrips. I could ask the guy once he gets in...
muck
Here is another thing I have been wordering about. AutoCAD has a AutoPublish command which makes a file but it is not a pdf. What is the purpose of that? Thank you,
ReMark
AUTOPUBLISH "Publishes drawings to DWF, DWFx, or PDF files automatically to a specified location."
muck
So you can get the Autopublish command to publish pdf files?. All I could do is to get it to make Dwfx files. How do you use it for pdf files? I don't see where Autopublish prompts the user for pdf files? Thank you
JD Mather
F1 search on autopublish, I let you do the reading.
mrbucket
F1 search on autopublish, I let you do the reading. This needs to be more specific. Good Find, I no doubt will use this at some point. My issue is the amount of work that may be done in between saves. Saving frequently to have a build-up of files would not work for me then. JD Mather
I had never used this before, so I did a bit of reading of the Help files myself.
JD Mather
Saving frequently to have a build-up of files would not work for me then. I don't know, looks to me like it will simply save two files rather than one keeping both the pdf and dwg up-to-date.

After looking at it again (the pic you posted), it looks like (of course I should just try this) that it will pdf all tabs and model space? muck
When I make a pfd with Autopublish I allways get Adobe program to come up. Is there a setting to keep Adobie form coming up when using autopublish? Thank you,
